If you moved to Texas recently or you have been living here for years. As temperatures start to drop and the snow starts to fall far away from Texas and we will wait most like the days of snow ferries.

Better to pack and take a road trip to visit the mountain filled with snow where we can stay to enjoy the cold weather and to learn how to ski will be the best winter time fun for kids and families.

1. Ruidos ( Ski Apache) – 9 hour Drive

Ruidoso is a small village in New Mexico, in the Lincoln National Forest  of southern New Mexico. At above sea level  11,981 feet set on the Sierra Blanca with a great Skiing resort  at Ski Apache.

Ski Apache Resort  will be open by November 27 – 2022. 

From Dallas to Ski Apache will be a 9 hour drive.

The gondola will take you from the base to the top of the mountain and it is great for all ages, kids under age 5 are free.

  The gondola ride once you reach the top of the mountain, you can see the  panoramic scenic views  of Southern New Mexico.

The skis and snowboard are next to the door of the gondola.

At Ski Apaches , they have great ski school from beginners to advanced level in their ski school

Ski Apaches has 11 lifts and 55 different trails with a great mix of easy to difficult trails.

2. Ruidos Winter Park for Snow tubing and activity.

Ruidoso’s winter park is located at the bottom of Sierra Blanca in Alto. One the best destinations for snow tubing and Igloo package  during winter.  All ages will enjoy this place.

5. Red River Ski ( 10 hour 30 min)

Red River Skiing, snowboarding and snow boarding located in a small town charm owned by family owned business which offers an unspoiled Vacation experience surrounded by the Southern Rockies of New Mexico. Red River located nearby Texas, Albuquerque, Taos and Santa Fe.

The mountains are situated at 8,750 feet.

They have minimal lift lines and fresh powder stashes that last days after a strom.

6. Snow Creek Ski Area ( 8 hour)
