It will take 30 to 45 minute to complete the whole 2 cup of idli podi which will last for 3 months.

If your kids don’t like any high spice, then split the whole recipe into 2 part and make one part with required chilli and another part without chilli or very little spice level of chilli.

Some Kids like to eat this sesame seed idli podi without any chilli. Taste will be very good with added gingelly oil on top.

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups Black Sesame Seeds
  • 11/2 Cup White urad dhal
  • 1/2 Cup Chana dhal
  • 15-20 Number Dried red chilli
  • Required Salt
  • 1 tsp Hing

  • In heavy Bottom pan, dry roast all ingredients in medium heat – Roast urad dhal, chana dal,sesame seeds, curry leaves and red chili till nice aromatic and golden color. Then transfer to plate and allow to cool down.

  • While dry roasting black sesame seed, keep eye while roasting sesame seed because of black in color, once you got nice aroma or the sesame seed got hot enough transfer it to plate to cool down.
  • Add required salt & hing . Then grind everything in batch wise to coarse powder.
  • While grinding, keep mixing the ingredients because the sesame seed will get sticky. So keep mixing the dhal inside mixer.
  • Spread all the grinded powder in wide plate and allow it to cool down completely.
    Store it in airtight box for upto 3 months.
