Welcome to Historical Sandia Peak Tram, We are so excited to take you to this beautiful mountain and manmade cable car which will take you to 3 mile in suspended cable car between easter Albuquerque to 10,679feet high Sandia Peak Summit – must visit travel destination place in New Mexico,
You can visit the top of the mountain by car route also , if you are not comfortable with hanging cable car.
We visited Sandia Peak Tram on 2nd day of our new mexico trip from Dallas. It took 9 hour 20 minute of Road Travel to reach Sandia Peak in between we took one day stop at Amarillo, Texas. We toured Cadillac Ranch & Palo duro Canyon.
We are so much refreshed and excited to visit Albuquerque -Sandia Peak Tram.
Our Trip Experience and Tip ,
From our Hotel, We started by 8 Am and Reached Sandia Peak Tram Entrance by 8.30 am. Since we went early there is not much crowd and we are the first few in the line and they did Covid temperature check at the entrance.
Good thing we went early, when we came back down from tram there is one mile of line to go in tram.
Due to Covid, they reduced the tram capacity to 10 to 15 and to our surprise, the tram operator cleaned the tram seat, handles, and glasses with disinfected after every trip.
Tip 1- Start Early to reduce standing time in queue,
Start from your hotel early and try reach sandia peak tram 30 minute early to reduce the standing time in queue for long time.
Kids gots ticket and excited to go in tram, we have no idea about the tram and that gave this excitement when we traveled in the tram.
In Tram waiting room, there is board mention Weather at the top of the peak, the weather is always little cooler in top of the peak .
Tip 2 – Dressup based on weather.
Dress up appropriate for the weather, it is good to have hoodie , layers or warm jacket during early spring and early fall.
The Top of mountain is much cooler than the base (as much as 30 degrees).
Taking Winter jacket, gloves and hats are must during winter time.
Tip 3 – Food & Water,
Depend on your activity on top of the mountain, you have to plan your food and water bottle.
Take your own water bottle, food to eat at the mountain, there are plenty of place to eat and relax.
If you have small kids in hand or plan to stay only for 2 hours then better to have some snacks and water.
If you plan to stay in top of mountain for more than 3 hours , then pack you lunch or dinner along with you.
If you plan to go for hiking , then plenty of water must be needed .
They have restaurant named Ten 3 at top of the mountain, you have good options for food there too.
Cable Car Experience,
The cable car designed best with clear view glasses ,very spacious and comfortable to sit or to stand with safety Handles,
Th Cable Car started very slow and speeded gradually.

Reya Traveled in Lots of Tram and Gondola in the age of 1 to 4 , but after she turned age of 5 years , this tram travel is her first experience.

Tram View
The Cable car take you to breath taking terrain, when going above deep canyon you can view the spectacular view of mountain.
They have Two major tower crossing for the Tram which the , the first tower will give you excitement and the second tower will take you to magic world of the deep nature .
The Tram and hiking are in the Cibola National Forest. Here is the breathtaking view of ” land of enchantment”.
The Tram travel will take 15 to 20 minute, the cable operator will provide the historic information about the sandia peak tram.
The 15 minute tram travel will give you amazing experience, once you reach the top of the mountain, the wooden bridge will take you panoramic view of eastern mountain view .

From the tram you walk towards the red wooden stairs, you start to see the western side beauty of the Mountain ,
In between the eastern and western mountain , they have the Restaurant named TEN 3,
Kids enjoyed the travel and the wide view of mountain, they never said bored, they watched and talked about what kind of bird flying over there,what types of animals will live in this forest.
Reya was so happy. From top of the mountain she looking back at the tram, how it is going down back .
Reya said , oh mom, the tram is going down how we will go back then we have to stay whole night in top of the mountain:)
