Easy Naan recipe on stovetop without Yeast, egg .

Tandoori Naan :

The name Tandoor referred to the cylindrical hot clay oven or metal oven used in cooking and baking with charcoal or wood fire.

Naan means soft layered bread raised with yeast or baking powder and then baked in clay oven(tandoor).

This no oven ,no yeast ,no egg naan recipe is very simple to make and the texture and taste turns out really good. Making of dough is really simple but it needs 3 hours of resting time. For this naan recipe you have to plan and make your dough ahead of your meal time.

You are not using any oven or tandoor ,for this you are just using iron dosa tawa or iron skillet . It is better to have little light weight iron tawa or skillet because you need to upside down the tawa with your hands to cook the top of your naan.

This naan recipe goes well with simple chana masala ,paneer butter masala or any mildly spiced curry.

Why No Yeast in this recipe?

Tried the naan recipe longtime back with yeast and it not turned good. So just left without trying the naan recipe for long time.

Using yeast always makes me extra tension ,whether the yeast is active, whether the dough will rise in 3 hrs and so on!!

If you’re not using good active yeast ,then the whole dough will not be useful /if you make naan out of it also ,it will have the smell of yeast

Since my kids love the naan ,now started to make in home but without yeast. Because , it looks easy and simple to make and if you don’t like the smell of yeast then try this recipe.

Is It Mom Friendly Recipe?

Most of the mommies are busy engaging young children and for this recipe, dough preparation is easy but for making the naan and cooking the naan will take some extra time and all it need your attention.

Not the best recipe for mommies to make in home with young kid below age of one to 2 years .

Mommies with kids age above 2 years ,if you plan little ahead of your day. Then you can make this naan recipe as like restaurant style with yummy side dish for lunch on weekdays or for dinner on weekend.

For Diet Mommies:

You’re mommy started diet or all the way to your goal .Your kid or family member asking for naan recipe .No worries, here you go, along with the naan dough make chapati dough and make along with naan .

While serving everyone, take small piece of naan in your plate and eat along with your chapathi will little extra curry for side dish.

So ,you will not build miss naan and same time your diet also saved.

If you really want to have whole naan, then make it will very small amount of butter and reduce the size of the dough.

Don’t give up your diet ,follow your diet by tasting the naan.Once you reached your diet target ,you can eat as many as you want.

It is easy to put on weight and very tough to reduce the same weight. Mommies we have to serve our kids and family their favourite food, so stop or pause your diet ,just change it little to keep you fit.

Naan Recipe without yeast,egg.

Equipment

  • Big mixing bowl, iron skillet pan/ iron dosa tawa,

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cup All purpose flour /Maida
  • 1/2 cup Curd /Plain Yogurt
  • 1/8 cup Milk
  • 1/2 tsp Baking soda
  • 1 tsp Powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable oil

For Garlic Naan Topping

  • 1 tbsp Garlic
  • 1/2 tsp tbsp Onion seeds/ sesame seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Cilantro

Instructions

Garlic Naan dough Preparation

  • 1. In wide bowl add all the dry ingredients all purpose flour, baking soda, powdered sugar, salt .Give nice mix so the salt, sugar and baking soda mix well.
  • 2. Add the wet ingredients – oil, curd and lastly the milk. With clean hands , knead all the ingredients for about 8 to 10 minute to form nice soft dough.
  • 3. Make a nice ball shape by kneading the soft dough, then place the dough in lightly oil greased container and cover it tightly.
  • 4. Keep the dough in warm place for about 2 to 3 hours.

Method for the Garlic Naan

  • 1. After 2 to 3 hours ,the dough has risen its size,now just give quick knead to the dough.
  • 2. To make oval shaped naan ,divide the dough into 6 to 7 equal part or make balls.
  • 3. Dust the base with flour and using chapati roller, make round or oval shaped naan.
  • 4. On top of the naan add chopped fresh garlic, sesame seeds, coriander leaves and roll on it with rolling pin ,to ensure the topping stick witht the
  • 5. Once the tawa or dosa kal is hot enough , Flip the naan and apply some water all over the plain surface of the naan.
  • 6. On medium flame, put the plain naan side on heated tawa or dosa kal . Allow it to cook for some time until you see rise in naan with bubbles.
  • 7. Now turn the tawa upside down and increase the flame. Move the tawa little over the flame and cook until you see brown spot all over the naan .
  • 8. Turn the iron tawa back ,using a spatula transfer the naan to a serving plate.
  • 9. Top the naan with butter and serve hot with curry.
