Lone Star State’s Parks are one of the best places to find deep red, bright yellow or burnt orange colors.
1.Tyler State Park, Tyler
Tyler state park located at 2 hour drive from Dallas , 62 acre of spring fed lake along with 100- foot tall trees and historic structure are best place to visit fall colors
Best for a one day trip or stay over trip , to view the fall colors with family and kids .
If you have toddlers , you can explore the Tyler Caldwell Zoo 1, Caldwell Zoo Part 2 along with your fall color visit at Tyler ,TX

2. Caddo Lake, Karnack.
Caddo lake is covered with trees like Maple, sweetgum, oak, hickory and centuries -old cypress trees along with Big Cypress Bayou. One of the best places to visit fall colors.
Best time to visit fall color
Last week of October to Late of November ( trees changes from a vibrant green to a russet-red color)
Hiking Trails surround with more traditional colorful hardwood trees .

Paddle, rest a canoe or bring your own canoe or kayak to explore the 50 miles of paddling trails , hike trail, camp ground , stay in a cabin and picnic with family !!
Fishing: Fishing across the 26,810 acee of Caddo Lake , with more than 70 species of fish. You do not need a fishing license to fish from the shore in a state park.

3.Daingerfield State Park, Daingerfield.
Enjoy Fall foliage by scenic drive within the park or hiking many miles of trails.
506 Acres of recreational area to explore and relax with family.
Fall Colors: Bright yellow , crimson red to burnt orange from October to mid November.
Activity:
Paddle, swim , rent a boat or bring your own boat or fish in the 80 acre pine lake located in the Daingerfield state Park.

4. Fort Worth Botanical Garden
Late fall to early winter is one of the best times to visit Japanese garden – most famous Maple trees turn bright shades of red ,yellow and orange!!
Cherry trees, magnolias and the bamboo are the best to visit in the garden.

$12 for adults , children $6 and 5 younger are free which includes Japanese Garden and Rainforest covservatory around 110 acres ..

5. Lake Bob Sandlin State Park, Pittsburg, Texas
Another amazing state park is a 2 hour drive from Dallas.The 9,000 acre Lake is located on big cypress creek near Pittsburg and Mount Pleasant.
Lake surrounded by massive trees and tall grasses which will be perfect for spectacular fall colors.
Activity :
Hike, camp, swim , boat , paddle, fishing and geocache.
Explore 3.3 miles of wooded trails on bike or foot.

At 45 min to 1 hour drive visit 1,015 acre city lake with various activities .

7.Dinosaur Valley State Park – Glen Rose
If you want to encourage your dinosaur loving kid and visit fall colors then dinosaur valley state park is one of the best places to visit .
Go for hiking trails to visit the red, yellow and orange color fall foliage which starts from late October to November.
Activities :
Checkout Acrocanthosaurus and Sauroposeidon footprints near the River.A trip to Dinosaur Valley would not be Complete without visiting Dinosaur World Located near the Entrance of Dinosaur Valley.There are Lots of Life Sized Dinosaur Statues to Check out.
8.Texas State Railroad Palestine Depot
Palestine Train Depot is one of the good places to visit fall color but it depends on the time of the visit, Few years back , we had a great time but when we called out for 2021 they were not sure about fall colors.
They do have holiday train adventures, you may see some fall colors !!

9. Possum Kingdom Lake-2.30 min drive from Dallas.
This park is located in the canyon country of the Palo Pinto Mountains and Brazos River Valley. Enjoy the 300 miles of shoreline and many scenic coves
It is located nearby Possum Kingdom Lake with 20,000 acres of clear blue water
Numerous white-tailed deer live in the park.
Fall color view are depend on the time you visit, but you will have best spots for fall color photoshoot and to enjoy the lake view

Tips for your fall color trip,
- Checkout the weather when you plan for your fall color trip or even before you start your car.
- Wear clothes according to the weather and alway hold a fall jacket in your car.
- If you are planning for a one day trip, pack some nice photoshoot clothes in one bag like ready to change clothes for photoshoot.
- If you are planning for photoshoot with kids, then take small blanket or small foldable chair along with their favorite toy to make them sit on top of fall leaves
