Covid bring up new way of travelling for our family. Whenever, it is long weekend, we always look up for 3 to 4 hour drive and will stay out for a day or two days.
Since this covid, made us think staying outside, we end up exploring more and more of one day road trip near to dallas.
Fossil Rim always first attraction for one day trip from dallas with kids and family.
Fossil Rim Wildlife Center holds 30 years of history with 50- plus species of native and non- native animals living at the 1,800 - acre park.
There are more than 1,100 animals which is just located at 1 hour 45 min from Dallas, Texas.
What is Interesting at Fossil Rim,
The most interesting one is direct feeding food to giraffe and other animals thru the comfort of your car.
Looking after animals free roaming or in front of you car or in your car sides will make everyone excite,
Very close look to animal make memorable moment for kids and parents.
The safari will take you to 7.2 mile of drive which will 3 hour of drive inside the Fossil Rim.
You will visit the every species from non - exotic to exotic animals .
Animal are sure to visit you to grab the food , If your kids are animals lovers, then this safari will be amazing experience for them.

Trip During Covid: You must use face mask while taking safari tour. Washing hand and following social distance are helpful to stay away from covid. The Children's animal center is closed but you can walk around the place to see the animals. Wildlife Safari : After Visiting Giraffe you will move towards - Go Overlook Cafe which includes burger, chips, souvenir , cool drinks and gifts. Picnic Area : They do have large picnic area, but it is not good to use during Covid. Dress up : The Safari thru on wide open environment , Dress up according to weather, f it summer then it going to be very hot and must need the sleeve jacket on cold weather. |

If you are hungry of the big ride have a snack at the overlook cafe and have a crunch of the best burger in Somervell County.And you can get other food from the cafe.
You can take your own food and have at top of the mountain, they have lot of picnic table.
Nature Store:
Here at the Nature Store you can get a snack , water bottle , gift or a souvenir to remember your visit.
They do have restaurant, food options are reduced due to covid.
The scenic view behind the gift shop are beautiful.
You can walk around the place with kids because another 1 or 2 to 3 hour , you are going to be inside the car.
So better walk around with kids , relax and enjoy the place.
